A night turned to tragedy

Shooting-VictimsBasseterre, St. Kitts, 17th April, 2017 ( - A night out on a holiday weekend turned to tragedy when two women were attacked by unknown assailants, as they sat in a car in Cotton Ground, Nevis.

Both were seriously injured, and one died shortly after arriving at the Alexander Hospital.

They had just returned from Rumors, a night spot in Newcastle.

The deceased is Morella Webbe, a mother of two from Cotton Ground. Both women lived closed to each other.

No-one knows the motive of this unexpected attack. But it is said Morella was driving her brother’s car. Still, many wonder about a possible motive of a family said “not to be involved in anything”.

The car was riddled with bullets.

The women were attacked around 3:30 am, Monday, 17th April, as they sat in the car near their homes.

Police are now carrying out an intensive investigation and are calling on the public, who might have information about the shooting, to report what they know.

Police have various means by which the public can share information. A person can call, or visit, the nearest Police Station, call the confidential hotline, 1-800-8477, or use the SKN Crime Reporter App, downloadable to your smartphone, to share the information.

Superintendent Trevor Mill said earlier, “Our Forensics Unit has canvassed the scene, but your assistance, coupled with what we do will make the  difference in solving these crimes.”
