ACP-HughesBasseterre, St. Kitts, 13th July, 2017 (MyVueNews.com) - Following the tampering with cameras of the CCTV system in parts of Shadwells and Conaree, Assistant Commissioner of Police Merclyn Hughes is calling on persons in communities to report persons they see, or heard of, vandalizing the cameras.

ACP Hughes, who has responsibility for technology in the St. Kitts and Nevis Police Force, indicated that over the past few weeks, cameras in the two areas have been vandalized.

According to a release issued by the Police Force, ACP Hughes is quoted as saying, "We appeal to our citizens that should you see persons or hear of persons who may have vandalized the systems (CCTV Cameras) to report it. These systems are installed and are being installed to enhance your safety and security and that of your family and community."

ACP Hughes continued, "Persons who are caught tampering or vandalizing CCTV equipment and other Citizen Safety supporting equipment will be charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent possible."

The cameras are being installed in locations in several communities to enhance citizen safety, through a system that provides real time video images of the environment in which cameras are placed.
