Basseterre, St. Kitts, (Friday, 20th April, 2012)-Within the first 24 hours of the murder of Jermaine Browne on Thursday 19th April, 2012, formal charges have been laid against a young man from Fort Thomas Road Basseterre, St. Kitts, for the offence.
Jermaine Browne of Conaree was shot down just before 7:00 am, at East Park Range, Basseterre, on Thursday morning.
A police Press statement indicated that the support and confidence of the Community has resulted in a major success of police operations.
Police officials have said that though they have been successful in detection of the two homicides in the past 48 hours, they developed additional security and safety logistics.
Browne’s death was the second in less than 48 hours, after Tuesday’s murder of Trevis Henville of Newtown, who was gunned down on Shaw Avenue, Mc Knight, Basseterre, on Tuesday, 17thApril, just after 8:00am.
Given that Thursday’s killing of Browne came so close after that of Henville’s, many in the public were speculating that there was a connection. It was believed that the last one on Thursday was in retaliation to that on Tuesday, but police here have already moved to dismiss those assumptions, indicating that they are not related.
