Trini figures in arrest of Boston bombing suspect

And so, it was no big surprise to learn that of the hundreds of Boston police officers who were involved in the hunt and arrest of the Boston marathon bomber suspect, a member of the elite Boston SWAT unit, Saro Thompson, who actually placed handcuffs on 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, has Trinidadian roots.

Body of newborn baby found at Beetham landfill

police-tape2Police are investigating the death of a one-week-old baby girl whose decomposing body was found at the Beetham landfill yesterday. According to police reports, around 11 am sanitation workers at the facility found a small cardboard box which was emitting a strong stench. When they checked they found that the box contained the decomposing remains of a baby. The baby was not clothed.
