Jermaine-Francis-Carifta-Record-Jump-2017Basseterre, St. Kitts, 17th April, 2017 (MyVueNews.com) - An outstanding performance by St. Kitts & Nevis athlete Jermaine Francis has earned the federation a gold medal at the 2017 Carifta Games in Curaçao.

Francis was participating in the High Jump event and took the gold in a record-breaking 2.22 meters jump. The Carifta Games record is 2.21 meters, set by Raymond Higgs, of The Bahamas, at the 2009 Carifta Games hosted by St. Lucia.

According to Evris Huggins, the Public Relations Officer of the St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur Athletics Association, the success is most welcomed for the young athletes’s career.

He told MyVueNews, “We extend congratulations to Jermaine Francis for this major achievement in his career. We want to wish him the best of luck, as he moves forward into the next chapter of his life.”

Of course the SKNAAA is hoping that young Francis will continue to bear the flag of the federation for many years to come.

His coach, Llewellyn Pyke was very pleased with the success of Francis. “We must congratulate him. We have seen the progress he has made over the years,” said Pyke.
