Would be robbers shoot at Police

CSU-21Basseterre, St. Kitts, 22nd September, 2017 (MyVueNews.com) - Two persons are in Police custody in connection with an attempted robbery of a man outside the National Bank ATM near the industrial site.

 

According to Police information, a man was about to use the ATM along the Frigate Bay Road when two masked men approached him. The victim locked himself in the ATM enclosure.

 

The would-be robbers then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

 

Police responded to a call and were able to find the vehicle. A pursuit followed.

 

According to the Police media release, the assailants fired upon the Police, who returned fire. the assailants crashed into an oncoming vehicle before both assailants fled on foot.

 

Technicians of the Forensic Services Unit processed the scene and collected items of evidential value including; one (1) 9mm pistol and several matching rounds of ammunition.  

 

According to the release, Commissioner Ian Queeley said these persons, who have taken this course of action, have done so against the state, and all efforts will be made to bring these perpetrators to justice.

 

He encouraged law abiding citizens to resist these types of criminality, and crime in general.

 

The Commissioner is quoted as saying, "I encourage our citizens to join with us, to come forward and share any information you may have with regards to crime and criminal activity… Together we will make a difference.”
