RS-1On October 16 reggae singer Richie Stephens will be honoured by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) in London, England.

The entertainer will be collecting the awards for Song of the Year and Digital Sales of the Year for his contribution to Rihanna's Work. The track is among the top ASCAP songs on the 2016 year-end charts.

This is the second time that Stephens will be honoured by ASCAP. In April of this year he received a pop award at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards in Hollywood.

“I am so blessed to be honoured in the United Stated and now to be recognised in England. It is a major accomplishment at this time in my career. I share this award with my fans globally and three members of the Ska Nation Band who will accompany me on the red carpet in London,” he said.

ASCAP is an American not-for-profit performance rights organisation that protects its members' musical copyrights by monitoring public performances of their music, including via a broadcast, and compensating them.

Stephens recently wrapped up a two week promotional tour of the United States for the single Happy Wine.

“I am extremely excited about the in roads that Happy Wine is making on urban stations in the US north-east. The song is getting steady rotation and is poised to enjoy further visibility now that the video for the song is released and circulated to video channels and various social media platforms. I thank God for the blessings, because without him none of this would be possible” he noted.

After the awards function in London, the singer and his Ska Nation Band will embark on a fall tour in Europe during late October.
