Multi-million-dollar hotel begins in Camps

Soil-Turning-CeremonyBasseterre, St. Kitts, 13th November, 2017 (MyVueNews.com) - Construction activities is expected to begin shortly following the ground breaking for the US120 million Seaview Gardens, at Camps.

 

The development will be on a 20-acre site, and will feature a 350-room hotel, a casino, condominiums, villas, commercial spaces, as well as residential and recreational areas.

 

Spearheading the project is the St. Kitts-Nevis Royal Ltd., owned by Alex Lee, Jun Qian and Jei Liu.

 

The project was approved under the Citizenship By Investment (CBI) program.

 

The groundbreaking took place on Saturday, 11th November, 2017.

 

Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris the new project was a reflection of confidence, and he thanked Alex Lee for his contribution to the development of St. Kitts and Nevis, in what the Prime Minister described as partnership with the Government and people of the federation.

 

Minister of Tourism Lindsay Grant said Seaview Gardens will bring benefits to the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis.

 

“Some of these benefits include, but are not limited to, revenues from room tax; the purchase of local food, in particular, agriculture produce; taxi services; tours, and the emergence of other spinoff businesses such as spas and restaurants, just to name a few,” Grant said.

 

He continued, “An important indirect impact of growth in hotel room inventory is that it also supports our airlift coming into St. Kitts and Nevis, which translates into increased stay-over visitors.”

 

It is understood that the investors are citizens through the CBI program, and that investor Alex Lee has lived on St. Kitts & Nevis for the past 10 years. He has investments in supermarkets and stores in the federation.

 

According to information from the Government, “It is anticipated that more than 100 persons will be employed during the construction stage of the project, while another 300 persons are expected to be employed for the operation of the hotel.”

It is understood that the US$120 million Seaview Gardens Hotel and Casino project will be constructed in three phases over a five-year period.
