Rain storm forces postponement of calypso show

Rainstorm-IIBasseterre, St. Kitts, 4th December, 2017 (MyVueNews.com) - Severe weather forced Carnival officials to postpone the second round of the Senior Calypso Eliminations that was scheduled for Warner Park on Sunday, 3rd December, 2017.

 

Late afternoon on Sunday, rain clouds quickly amassed and by showtime extremely heavy rainfall, accompanied by lightning and thunder, put an end to any attempt to start the show.

 

Carnival Committee sources indicate that the decision to postpone was a collaborative one involving the the Calypso Sub-Committee, as well as the Proud Sounds and Legends Bands that were to provide musical accompaniment for the calypsonians.

 

The show will now be held tonight, Monday, 4th December, Warner Park. However, instead of an 8 pm start, the show will begin at 6 pm.

 

Thirty calypsonian will appear on stage to complete the eliminations process. Part one of the eliminations was held 2nd December.

 

Meanwhile, the Carnival Committee has also announced the postponement of the Best Of The Rest Show and the Primary Schools Junior Calypso Competition, scheduled for Friday, 8th December.

 

According to the information, the postponement will allow the young calypsonians to focus on their End of Terms Exams this week.

 

The new date is set for Thursday, 14th December.
