Basseterre, St. Kitts, (Tuesday 24th April, 2012)-The best in local agriculture will be put on display from this Thursday, as the Department of Agriculture hosts its annual Open Day activities.
The event will run from 26th-27th April at the La Guerite based department and will involve farmers from throughout the island.
The exhibition will begin with an opening ceremony on Thursday (26th April) at 10:00am and a grand celebration under the theme Transformation of the Agricultural Sector - "Farm to Fork Approach".
According to an official, some for the highlights one can expect at the exhibition include: Livestock Exhibits, Crop Exhibits, Fishery Zone and a Kids Zone among many other things.
They also added that the open day will also feature masquerades; Performances from local artistes Footsy and the Lights Out Band, along with Plant Nursery Sales and Horseback riding.
The event will be opened from 9:00am - 6:00pm daily and will charge an admission of $2 while school children in uniform will be admitted free.
The official added that they are looking forward to the general public’s participation as they showcase the way forward in the enhancement of food security and the agricultural sector at large.
