Basseterre, St. Kitts, (Sunday 8th July, 2012)-Nevisian authors will soon be given a new opportunity for the exposure of their literary work, with the staging later this month of a book fair.
The event will form part of the activities for Culturama 2012, and patrons of the Book Fair are being encouraged to spend time in the company of local book authors. According to one official, it is an opportunity to display, sell and hear of the works of the authors.
The Director of Library Services on the island, Mrs. Sonita Daniel, explained that though it is primarily designed for Nevisian writers, Kittitian authors are also welcomed to be part of the event.
She said that the country should seize the opportunity to make this critical event, which is designed to promote books and the love of reading for enjoyment and enlightenment, as successful as possible.
“Let us put reading back on the family agenda,” said Mrs. Daniel.
Meanwhile, Premier and Minister of Education, in Nevis, Joseph Parry, has thrown his support for the programme and has praised the Library Services Department for organizing the fair which is to be held on 27th July, 2012 at the Villa in Charlestown.
