Could You Be Loved gets EDM twist


CEDELLA Marley has joined forces with party promoter/club owner Kamal Bankay to release a remake of her father's hit Could You Be Loved.Bankay told Splash that he got involved in the project after working with Las Vegas entertainment executive Jason Lema and entertainer Sol Shafer.

Gorillaz takes Popcaan, Grace to Billboard


Humanz, the fifth studio album from British virtual band Gorillaz, debuts at number two on the Billboard 200 Albums chart this week. Two of the Jamaican acts on it have never had a solo album in that table's made Top 10.Those acts are Popcaan and Grace Jones. The latter duets on the song Changes, while Popcaan is featured on the single Saturnz Barz, which made the UK Top 100 Singles chart a few weeks ago.

Lawyers ready appeal


THE legal team representing dancehall deejay Shawn “Shawn Storm” Campbell is preparing to appeal the artiste's murder conviction, which is set to commence on February 19 of next year.Campbell — along with dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel (given name Adidja Palmer), Kahira Jones, and Andre St John — are currently serving life sentences for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. They are hoping to have their sentences overturned.

Riley's 'Royal' turns 10


She's Royal, the anthem to women from singer Tarrus Riley, turns 10 this year. Recorded in October 2006 and released in early 2007, She's Royal was produced by renowned saxophonist, Dean Fraser.“The song came about as a self-esteem booster. At the time, I knew some girls who needed a confidence boost. I wanted women to feel confident about themselves,” Riley said in an interview with the Jamaica Observer. Riley is son of late reggae singer, Jimmy Riley.
