Leroy is famous as a cricketer and well known and respected as a businessman but he was much more than a cricketer and businessman. He was a devout Christian, a loving and dedicated husband, father and sibling, a kind and gentle man and a community spirited man. When I reflect on his personality the first part of the famous poem the Desiderata comes to mind. It reads:
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,as far as possible without surrender,be on good terms with all persons.Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant;they too have their story.Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexatious to the spirit.
Leroy was born in St.Kitts where his parents established at College Street in Basseterre a home and a business which has become a household name.
