Profile of Andrew E Weekes, the Cricket Umpire


Andrews-by-2Andrew Emanuel Weekes was born at Fahie’s Estate on June 25th 1940.

He spent his Primary School days at St Pauls, before completing his formal education at the Sandy Point Senior School.

After graduating in 1957, he began his teaching career at the tender age of fourteen (14) at the Old Road Government School, and then the Verchild’s All-Age School. His monthly salary was $24.00

Andrew was then transferred to the St. Paul’s All-Age School, before going to teach Mathematics at the Convent High School (now the Immaculate Conception Catholic School [ICCS]) in 1969, where he stayed until he retired in 1997.

He humorously recalled his first day as a teacher, dressed in short pants with knee-high socks.

He served as a Scouts Master for the Sandy Point and Old Road Catholic Scouts Troupe for more than five (5) years.

Eulogy of Mr. Leroy Coury


late-couryLeroy is famous as a cricketer and well known and respected as a businessman but he was much more than a cricketer and businessman. He was a devout Christian, a loving and dedicated husband, father and sibling, a kind and gentle man and a community spirited man.When I reflect on his personality the first part of the famous poem the Desiderata comes to mind. It reads:

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,as far as possible without surrender,be on good terms with all persons.Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others,even the dull and the ignorant;they too have their story.Avoid loud and aggressive persons,they are vexatious to the spirit.

Leroy was born in St.Kitts where his parents established at College Street in Basseterre a home and a business which has become a household name.

Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Contestant 2012- Miss St.Kitts


skMiss St.Kitts- Junika Berry, 16. For the 2012 – 2013 Digicel Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant, host country St. Kitts will be represented by Junika Berry. She deems her participation in the 33rd edition of a pageant of such distinction a signal honor to represent her hometown in all its splendor.

November 20th, 1995 ushered the birth of this creation of radiant hope and unparalled charisma. She is the eldest of three (3) siblings who cherishes her strong family bonds and blessings from above which she believes have molded her into the fine young lady she has blossomed into. 

Currently, she is the local reigning National Carnival Talented Teen Queen having won four of the five judged segments in addition to capturing the Miss Photogenic award. She was also the recipient of the prestigious Chairman’s Award. Junika credits pageantry for having provided her with numerous wonderful opportunities, one of the most memorable being her participation in the internationally renowned 2012 Expo in South Korea.
