Queen-1Basseterre, St. Kitts, Monday, 7th August, 2017 (MyVueNews.com) - It was a popular decision that many in the crowd had predicted, once the final appearance had been completed with the Interview Segment.

The Carib Brewery sponsored contestant, Khalitra Swanston, delivered an outstanding performance in the five appearances of the 2017 Miss Culture Pageant, amassing a total of 797 points, to be crowned the new beauty queen of the island.

But her victory was by a small margin of three points, with her First Runner-up, Merv-Ann Thompson, (Miss Development Bank), closely behind on her 794 points.

Following behind in Second Runner-up was Miss Flow, Zarina Alcendor, who copped 783 points to secure her position.

However, it was a well-balanced night of competition with the honours being spread across the line-up of contestants.

In addition to winning the crown, Swanston also picked up the prize for Best Performing Talent, Best Evening Wear and Best On-Stage Interview. The Miss Photogenic was another award the judges passed on to Swanston.

Zarina Alcendor also did herself proud, winning the Cultural Speech Presentation, and Swimwear Appearance.

But it was Kadejah Liburd, Miss NEVLEC, who took the prize for the Chairperson’s Award and a bonus five points.

Liburd also shared the award for Miss Congeniality with Khalitra Swanston.

The other contestants were Donnella Dore, (Miss National Bank), and Kadejah Liburd, (Miss NEVLEC).

The contest was held at the Nevis Cultural Complex in Charlestown, in front of a packed audience.

Hours after, thousands were engaged in the J’ouvert jam session throughout the streets of Charlestown.

The next major event is due to take place later in the evening when contestants from across the Caribbean, participate in the Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Show.
